About 'marketing jobs west midlands'|Latest data confirms positive signs for jobs market, says John Farmer, REC Regional Director for the South West








               Like               something               out               of               a               George               Orwell               novel,               private               corporations               are               taking               over               world               governments               and               farming               out               slave               labor,               all               in               the               name               of               Justice,               Democracy               and               Capitalism.

There               are               three               main               players               on               the               world               stage               already               doing               this:               G4S,               GEO,               and               CCA.



               Private               security               firms               that               once               hired               the               sleeping               night               watchman               are               now               operating               the               world's               prison               systems,               police               forces,               and               even               the               military               bases               in               war               zones               in               Afghanistan               and               other               Middle               Eastern               crisis               zones.

While               governments               are               using               tax               dollars               to               pay               these               corporations               under               the               guise               of               fiscal               efficiency,               the               corporations               are               farming               out               incarcerated               slave               labor               to               other               businesses               in               the               name               of               rehabilitation.

There               is               widespread               controversy               about               how               much               money               these               corporations               are               actually               saving               the               taxpayer               as               well.



               The               private               prison               industry               is               no               small               venture.

These               monstrous               multi-billion               dollar               corporations               are               accountable               to               no               one               but               their               shareholders.

The               conflict               of               interest               is               obvious               when               you               have               the               same               for               profit               company               policing,               prosecuting               and               incarcerating               citizens-all               of               whom               are               effectively               lobbying               legislatures               to               pass               tougher               laws               with               longer               sentences.



               Private               prisons               seem               to               defy               the               whole               reason               we               put               the               government               in               charge               of               policing,               prosecuting               and               detaining               people.

The               government               is               supposed               to               be               a               neutral               entity               with               no               conflicts               of               interest.

Privatizing               prisons,               private               policing               organizations               and/or               the               military,               is               creating               a               serious               conflict               of               interest.

With               shareholders               expecting               profitable               returns,               it               is               in               the               best               interest               of               the               corporation               to               pass               as               much               legislation,               criminalize               as               much               behavior               and               keep               people               locked               up               for               as               long               as               possible.

Meanwhile,               the               corporation               gets               paid               from               both               ends.

The               government               pays               the               corporation               a               set               amount               per-bed-per-day,               and               the               corporation               farms               out               the               labor               of               the               prisoners               to               other               corporations               at               astounding               profit               ratios.



               Private               prison               corporations               are               also               in               the               business               of               providing               parole               supervision               and               GPS               monitors               for               people               who               have               been               released               from               prison--at               the               expense               of               the               tax               payers               and               for               profit.

If               that               is               not               freaky               enough,               some               of               these               same               companies               are               in               the               home               security               industry               as               well.

So               basically,               the               people               putting               video               equipment               in               your               homes               and               doing               drive               by               in               your               neighborhood,               in               the               name               of               Security,               are               the               same               people               performing               police               functions,               incarcerating               you               (to               sell               you               to               the               highest               bidder               for               slave               labor)               and               monitoring               you               when               you               get               out               of               jail.
               The               Fourth               Amendment               protects               citizens               from               Unreasonable               Search               and               Seizure--but               if               you               invite               the               police               into               your               home               (even               through               the               farce               of               private               security               monitoring               services),               you               have               waived               your               Fourth               Amendment               guarantees.

The               Supreme               Court               has               also               held               that               private               corporations               are               exempt               from               the               federal               laws               that               apply               to               government               operated               policing               agencies.



               The               cost               of               incarceration               is               a               deterrent               to               government               organizations               from               getting               overly               zealous               infringing               people's               rights.

You               do               not               have               that               safe               guard               with               private               corporations--the               more               people               in               prison,               the               more               money               they               make               by               farming               out               your               labor               to               the               highest               bidder               and               by               charging               the               taxpayers               bed               fees.

It               is               not               in               their               interest               to               protect               your               rights.

It               is               in               their               best               interest               to               make               sure               you               go               to               prison               and               stay               there               as               long               as               possible.
               Taken               from               the               CCA               filing               with               the               Securities               and               Exchange               Commission:
               "As               of               December               31,               2010,               we               had               approximately               11,700               unoccupied               beds               in               inventory               at               facilities               that               had               availability               of               100               or               more               beds,               and               an               additional               1,124               beds               under               development.

Of               those,               1,200               beds               are               under               guaranteed               contracts               with               existing               customers,               leaving               us               with               11,600               beds               available.

We               have               staff               throughout               the               organization               actively               engaged               in               marketing               this               available               capacity               to               existing               and               prospective               customers.

Historically,               we               have               been               successful               in               substantially               filling               our               inventory               of               available               beds               and               the               beds               that               we               have               constructed.

Filling               these               available               beds               would               provide               substantial               growth               in               revenues,               cash               flow,               and               earnings               per               share.

However,               we               can               provide               no               assurance               that               we               will               be               able               to               fill               our               available               beds."               

               Do               we               really               want               human               beings               to               be               nothing               more               than               a               product--and               when               the               corporation               runs               out               of               product,               then               what?

They               still               have               shareholders               who               expect               dividends               and               returns.



               October               31,               2012:               The               day               started               like               any               other               at               the               4-year-old               Casa               Grand               High               School.

At               9               a.m.

Tom               Hamilton,               Principle,               ordered               the               school's               1,700               some               odd               students               put               on               lock               down               and               the               for               profit               private               prison               company,               Corrections               Corporation               of               America,               aka               CCA,               along               with               three               actual               policing               agencies               conducted               a               drug               raid               on               the               school,               lining               students               up               against               the               walls               and               using               drug               sniffing               dogs               to               conduct               searches.

Three               arrests               were               made,               at               least               one               of               whom,               it               seems,               will               be               sent               to               one               of               CCA's               own               facilities.



               From               the               CCA               website.
               "CCA               houses               more               than               80,000               inmates               in               more               than               60               facilities,               44               of               which               are               company-owned,               with               a               total               bed               capacity               of               more               than               90,000.

CCA               currently               partners               with               all               three               federal               corrections               agencies               (The               Federal               Bureau               of               Prisons,               the               U.S.

Marshals               Service               and               Immigration               and               Customs               Enforcement),               16               states,               more               than               a               dozen               local               municipalities,               and               Puerto               Rico               and               the               U.S.

Virgin               Islands."               

               It               goes               on               to               say:
"Since               its               inception,               CCA               has               maintained               its               market               leadership               position               in               private               corrections,               managing               more               than               40               percent               of               all               adult-secure               beds               under               contract               with               such               providers               in               the               United               States.

The               company               joined               the               New               York               Stock               Exchange               in               1994               and               now               trades               under               the               ticker               symbol               CXW.

Headquartered               in               Nashville,               Tennessee,               CCA               employs               nearly               17,000               professionals               nationwide               in               security,               academic               and               vocational               education,               health               services,               inmate               programs,               facility               maintenance,               human               resources,               management               and               administration.

The               company               has               been               named               among               "America's               Best               Big               Companies"               by               Forbes               magazine               and               ranked               number               one               in               the               publication's               "Business               Services               and               Supplies"               category.

G.I.

Jobs               magazine               also               named               CCA               as               a               "Top               50               Military-Friendly               Employer."               G4S               owns               more               than               478               prisons               worldwide,               including               20               in               the               USA               and               13               in               the               Middle               East,               among               which               are               the               controversial               Palestinian               detention               facilities               in               Israel,               and               others               in               Afghanistan.

G4S               has               also               taken               over               policing               agencies               in               Lincolnshire,               West               Midlands               and               Surrey               in               the               UK.

If               this               does               not               seem               insane               enough,               G4S               along               with               KBR               (aka               Halliburton-you               guessed               it,               former               Vice               President               Dick               Cheney:               Builder               of               Guantanamo               Bay)               has               also               been               awarded               military               contracts.

The               former               Wackenhut               who               was               sued,               fined,               and               run               out               of               town               for               misconduct               and               even               wrongful               deaths               is               now               operating               as               the               world's               third               largest               private               prison               company,               GEO.
               1980:               Ronald               Reagan               was               elected               President               of               the               United               States               of               America               on               the               platform               of               his               War               on               Drugs,               the               results               of               which               account               for               nearly               half               of               all               incarcerations               in               the               United               States               today.

Since               then               legislation               such               as               Tough               on               Crime,               Truth               in               Sentencing.

Zero               Tolerance               and               Three               Strikes               has               been               passed.



               Incarceration               rates               have               increased               dramatically               in               the               last               30               years               because               of               this               legislation.

Private               prison               corporations               actively               lobby               the               government               to               pass               legislation               that               benefits               the               corporation.

This               legislation               has               created               such               an               increase               in               prison               populations               that               California               was               recently               ordered               by               a               federal               judge               to               reduce               its               prison               population               by               almost               50,000               prisoners               and,               the               United               States               has               the               highest               incarceration               rate               of               any               nation               in               the               world.



               Nearly               half               of               all               prisoners               in               the               United               States               are               housed               in               private               facilities.

California               responded               to               the               court               order               to               reduce               its               prison               population               by               sending               its               prisoners               out               of               state               to               privately               owned               and               operated               prisons               in               the               South,               most               of               which               are               owned               and               operated               by               CCA.



               The               American               Legislative               Exchange               Council               aka               ALEC               is               a               private               organization               with               the               mission               statement               of               supporting:               

               Limited               Government               Free               Markets               Individual               Liberty               According               to               Justice               Policy.org,               ALEC               charges               its               members               $6               million               per               year,               which               guarantees               that               members               will               gain               access               to               legislators               at               three               annual               conferences.

ALEC               primarily               functions               to               develop               model               legislative               proposals               that               advance               free               market               principals               with               significant               focus               on               privatization.



               1981:               ALEC's               chair               was               selected               as               a               member               of               Ronald               Regan's               National               Task               Force               on               Federalism,               which               encouraged               direct               interaction               between               ALEC's               corporate               members               and               administration               officials.

CCA               pays               an               additional               fee               for               a               seat               on               the               Public               Safety               Task               Force,               having               at               times               co-chaired               the               Task               Force.



As               the               fomer               First               Lady,               Nancy               Reagan,               said               so               simply               yet               eloquently,               perhaps               it               is               time               to               "Just               Say               NO."
